Söderhamn is a municipality on the coast of southern Hälsingland. Along the coast, you will find the communities of Vallvik, Ljusne and Sandarne, and picturesque fishing villages such as Granön and Skärså. Inland are the communities of Söderala, Marmaverken, Mohed, Bergvik, Holmsveden, Stråtjära, Trönö and Kungsgården.
The city of Söderhamn, an important market town since the early Middle Ages, lies at the head of Söderhamnsfjärden. In the early 17th century, Söderhamn was incorporated as a city, following the establishment of a rifle factory to supply the Swedish army.
Söderhamn's best-kept secret is the beautiful archipelago with its many idyllic islands, bays, rocks and skerries, offering ample opportunities for swimming, boating and fishing. The city is known throughout Sweden for its many parks, which explode in a blaze of colour in spring and summer. A stroll through these green spaces is an memorable experience.
